Road Closure For 20th Annual Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge
The following information was shared by Councillor Bongani Nkomo re the Road Closure for the 20th Annual Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge on the 20th November 2016.
The 20th annual Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge takes place on Sunday, 20 November 2016. The event stretches through the streets of greater Johannesburg and is the second largest mass participation cycling event in the world with approximately 33 000 cyclists taking part. As a result, certain roads throughout Johannesburg will be closed from 04h30 – 17h00 by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, Johannesburg Road Agency and the City of Joburg.
We have already notified all residents, businesses and churches along the route, by means of resident letters, flyers and we have also sent them a notification email with all the event details.
We ask that you pass on the details of the event to all your Resident Associations that will be affected.
We have gone to businesses, churches and residents that operate directly or reside along the route.
We have a TomTom Maps Interactive map on our website, www.cyclechallenge.co.za that is designed to assist residents and motorists to navigate the city avoiding the Road Closures on Cycle Challenge Sunday.
Please look out for any further correspondence regarding the Telkom 947 in the build-up to Sunday, 20 November – flyers, posters, media reports, traffic advisories, social media and information will be broadcast on 947!
We thank you in advance for your support and understanding and ask that you assist us in spreading the word to all those that may be affected by the event and road closures.
