Buccleuch Needs You
Urgent Notification
Dear Buccleuch Resident
We have identified numerous properties and streets with overgrown verges that require attention.
These overgrown areas often obstruct the effective use of road lanes, limit visibility when turning
into streets, and can serve as hiding places for criminal activity.
We have contacted and escalated this matter to City Parks; however, they have advised that street
verges will only be addressed once all parks in the region have been completed, as this falls within
their current mandate.
We kindly ask for the community’s assistance in improving the overall look and feel of our suburb
for both residents and visitors. Neglected verges, pavements, and walkways not only detract from
the suburb’s appearance but may also attract criminal elements and other undesirable activity. In
contrast, neat, well-maintained gardens and verges contribute positively to safety and help improve
property values throughout the suburb.
BRA currently has a team that carries out regular pavement maintenance and verge clearing along
the main roads. These efforts are funded through BRA monthly membership contributions of only
R100, which go toward upliftment projects, clean-ups, security initiatives, and other community
activities.
Our vision is for Buccleuch to be a well-respected, well-maintained community where residents feel
proud to live. We therefore ask all residents to support this goal by taking a small amount of time
to maintain the verge outside their property or along their street.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and for supporting BRA in our efforts to create
a cleaner and safer Buccleuch.
