Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes are required in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA). The EIA will evaluate the potential environment impact of the Frankenwald development proposals. An EIA is a systematic and consultative process that gathers detailed information on the social, economic and ecological consequences of a development proposal. The environmental authority uses the information gathered during the EIA process to inform a decision on the development proposal. and  The aim of the process is to maximise socio-economic outcomes while ensuring ecological integrity.
