Buccleuch to get Fibre
After comprehensive consultation, led by Wihann Boucher, the BRACe and BSC technical teams have evaluated proposals by companies interested in the installation of fibre in Buccleuch and we've jointly agreed that Fibrehoods (with CORSS as the installer) is best placed to meet the needs of the Buccleuch community.
Among other criteria we have considered cost, technical infrastructure, speed of rollout and coverage of the whole of Buccleuch as factors in the decision (see decision criteria and comparison below). In particular, Vumatel is ready to begin work almost immediately.
Fibrehoods, backed by Vumatel's Next-generation fibre Network, together with multiple ISP's with hundreds of packages to choose from have provided many communities in the greater Johannesburg region with a reliable and cost effective solution.
To make this project viable and a success, the Buccleuch community needs to show their interest by one of the means listed in the next steps, preferably on the Vumatel website.

Next steps:
- Fibrehoods will add Buccleuch to their area map on the Vumatel website. This will hopefully happen by 16 August. Buccleuch residents can then express their interest via the website.
- Fibrehoods will put up signage in Buccleuch informing the residents of their intent to deliver fibre. (Aiming for 18th August 2017)
- Fibrehoods representatives will do a house to house campaign in Buccleuch (Starting 18th August 2017)
- A Week before Fibre implementation begins, Fibrehoods will call for a community meeting.
