Sandton CPF Sector 4. Guardians Patroller programme. Volunteers/Patrollers needed
the Sandton Guardians Patroller programme has been rolling out throughout Sandton over the past few months. The programme has been established as an additional means of keeping our communities safer.
The idea is to mobilise members of the community to patrol their own suburbs, and act as the 'eyes and ears' of the community - to observe and report suspicious/criminal behaviour in our suburbs. Patrollers/volunteers will liaise and co-operate with members of local security companies, Sandton SAPS and other law enforcement agencies.
The community needs to be the 'third force' in the fight against crime.
We are not looking for vigilantism - we are looking for concerned community members to get out onto the streets to observe and report to the local security companies, Sandton SAPS and other law enforcement agencies, any suspicious/criminal behaviour.
Buccleuch has an established programme. The Guardians in Buccleuch have had some great successes - working alongside Duma and Ukuthemba Security,Sandton SAPS,JMPD and Oaktech (Licence Plate Recognition initiative). HOWEVER, they need more patrollers/volunteers.
The programme is gradually phasing into Kelvin, but once again, additional volunteers are needed. No programme has been established in Wendywood, Kramerville, Eastgate or Marlboro as yet....Volunteers are required for these suburbs.
A Sector 4 Guardians Manager, along with Suburb Managers for Buccleuch and Kelvin have been appointed. Should you wish to become a Guardians patroller/volunteer, or should you wish to find out more information about the programme, please contact one of the following :
- Sector 4 Guardians Manager : Luewellyn Pillay (061 0434268 or luewellyn@mykelvin.org.za)
- Buccleuch Guardians Manager : Waseem Ebrahim (061 4612451 or mwaseem.raza@gmail.com).
- Kelvin Guardians Manager : Hassan Saib (071 6050793 or hassan.saib@gmail.com)
- Sandton CPF Sector 4 Chair : Andrew McMurray (082 9229979 or mcmurray65@gmail.com)
Your participation and input would of great value.
Please note that to become part of the CPF/Guardians programme, all volunteers are required to be vetted and have police clearance (this will be done through the Sandton CPF, at no cost to the volunteer).
The Sandton Guardians patroller programme is the only patroller programme in the Sandton Police precinct that is recognised by both Sandton SAPS and Sandton CPF.
We look forward to hearing from you.
