Notes on Pikitup Strike received from councillor Bongani Nkomo from an interview on 702 with MMC Mfikoe this morning, 22 March 2016.

Pikitup is still on an unprotected strike over wages and they are working on a backup plan which they do not want to reveal as there might be intimidation towards the workers. Trucks are being shot at by mysterious 3rd party people and outsourced workers are being intimidated.

There is no clear indication from the union as to why they are against Amanda Nair, MD Pikitup and they need to present evidence of any misconduct by her.

Due process has to be followed in order to fire strikers, there will be a hearing 29 March 2016.

She apologises and advised that Residence must do own cleanups in meantime.
