Board meeting 28 January 2021

Below are notes from the pre-AGM BRA Board Meeting of 28 October 2020.

Annual General Meeting

  • Board acknowledged the resignations of Lapo Dlamini and Waseem Raza
  • Confirmed the receipt of new director nominations for Jessica Louwrens and Jacques Louwrens. Agreed to approach Nicolene Steyn
  • Confirmed appointment of Sifiso Magagula
  • No other board nominations have been received and no items were submitted by Members for discussion at the AGM. 

Security

  • Board welcomed Waseem's offer to continue supporting our security initiatives in particular regarding infrastructure and technical issues.
  • Board to meet with Waseem to discuss specifics of his ongoing role and do hand-over of other issues.
  • Resolved to conduct a status audit and to review access to security cameras and Snipr. Need to set up an SOP for onboarding and offboarding users.
  • Board discussed how to ensure the management of any risk in regard to BRA's security activities and relationships with SAPS, CPF, Guardians and security companies
  • Reconsidered and agreed that Guardians should be paying members of BRA, except if they have financial constraints in which will be considered on a case by case basis.

Crime Alert Telegram Group

  • Resolved to continue with process to encourage membership by removing non-members from the telegram group. Family of Members residing in the same household will remain on the group.
  • Discussed the inclusion of employees of Members being allowed on the group. Agreed that more eyes and ears are beneficial for suburb security, and that employees residing in Buccleuch with Members may be added to the groupon request by Members. Employees will be identified on the BRA database, and a relationship tag added to link the Member and employee
  • Agreed there is a need to conduct 1/4ly reviews of group membership.
  • Agreed that non-member residents who have made or continue to make significant contributions to BRA initiatives will remain on the group.

Service delivery

  • Board acknowledged the cleanup initative on Sandra Road by Nicolene Steyn, and agreed to help fund the installation of rubbish bins on Sandra and corner Bridge/Allison if necessary.

Membership and marketing

  • Agreed to procure new membership boards and promotional collateral for BRA. Imraan and Jay will progress with Micky.
  • Agreed to determine which Members don't have a member boards and clarify if they want one.
