Beware of Criminals masquerading as city workers
BRACe received an email from a concerned resident, Ruth, in Buccleuch warning of the following happening.
Crime attempt linked to the ongoing Eskom Pre-paid Meters roll-out in Buccleuch.
We live in a townhouse complex in Gibson Drive. Someone claiming to be an Eskom employee started buzzing all the units in our complex, asking for admittance to the complex re the pre-paid roll-out in Buccleuch. Luckily 1 resident walked to the gate to question them. There was a silver Mercedes with Eskom logo parked at the gate, and the man was wearing a safety-type jacket. The owner asked for ID, but was unsure, so said he wanted to 1st discuss with the trustees. Enquiries were made with Eskom, who said that as we were a sectional title complex, we were a 'bulk electricity user', so that the complex was NOT INCLUDED in the current pre-paid meter roll-out. This was therefore almost certainly a crime attempt.
With thanks for your ongoing contribution to our suburb
We want to thank Ruth for bringing this to our attention so that we can share with the community.
