The Village Safe Haven

Description:

The Village Safe Haven is a Group Foster Care Facility, also acting as a Place of Safety.  We have the capacity to home 24 to 36 children, excluding support staff and house parents.  This number is directly linked to the financial support of the community, socio-economic development donations (SEDs), corporate CSI donations and investments and bequeaths.
Our children attend local schools and pre-schools that cater especially for their needs, and we run an excellent mentorship programme. We do not cater for children with serious physical disabilities, as we do not have the facilities or staff for this. We have three homes on the property which model a family structure and are functional depending on the number of children enrolled.

Management & Staff

The Village Safe Haven is professionally run and managed on a full-time basis by our Principal House Parents and Junior House Parents, who form part of The Village Family. They have dedicated their personal and professional lives to the welfare of the home and these precious children.  Paying salaries are one of our most important needs.  Our board members come from various professional vocations, and we have a small volunteer base that support the running of the home and the Principal Parents.  Together this team ensures that The Village Safe Haven operates as smoothly and efficiently as possible, meeting our overall objectives.

Education & Activities

Our facilities allow our children to grow up in a loving environment and to participate in activities like any other child their age.
We are in need of annual financial school fee donations.  Education is critical to the balanced upbringing of our children and encompasses expenses such as annual school fees, books, uniforms, camps, remedial help, sport, and transport.
Socio-economic development (SEDs) donations and CSI budgets used on education are Section 18A tax deductible item.  We are happy to work together with you, to best use your CSI budget and to incorporate your company ethos, in supporting such a worthy cause.   The youth of South Africa’s nation.
We are NPO and PBO approved, and SARS certified, and we value responsible giving.  Please email Susan for an annual school fee breakdown on susanh@villagesafehaven.org.za

Volunteer

We need mature volunteers that can assist with homework and or tutoring once a week.  This portfolio requires dedication and commitment from the mature volunteer, as our children build a repour with you, which needs to be maintained throughout the exam period.
Alternatively, should you have a few hours a month available, and you would like to get involved in smaller once off projects or fundraising, we can always use your help.
We have a student community hours portfolio, whereby students can complete tasks for community hours.  Just a note here… we are not a baby home.  Please refer to our website for more information regarding community hours.
Please contact Susan via email on susanh@villagesafehaven.org.za should you wish to volunteer.  Your time will be greatly valued.
