Creating a space for elderly residents to socialize and network, the Honour Our Precious elders (Hope) tea party was off to a good start. The initiative, launched by the Buccleuch Residents Action community, saw citizens over the age of 55 meet at The New Church on 1 September at 6pm.

Sagiri Misthry, on behalf of the association, explained that launching the initiative was a way to get the elderly together and more involved in the community.

“The Bucleuch community could certainly benefit from having these initiatives where senior citizens can get together,” she said. Misthry added that the initiative would allow the elderly to share skills with each other and get more involved in community projects around them. She invited the elderly residing in Buccleuch to the next gathering, which will take place on 15 September at 6pm at The New Church.

The next event on 29th September will be a light exercise session followed by a Karaoke evening at Cescos.

All elders of Buccleuch are invited to attend.
